I'm fond (perhaps overly fond) of saying that original version of "Lucky Ball and Chain" is the greatest county song ever written, but that's mostly because it's one of the few country songs I can bear to listen to. The joke in the original is in the contrast between the cheerful music and depressing lyrics. I ruined the joke. Now the whole thing is depressing.
